East Central Oklahoma University Kiptoo Headed to NCAA National Championships

The NCAA Division II Men’s Cross Country Committee announced the participants for the 2022 NCAA Division II Men’s Cross Country Championships. For the first time since 2015, East Central University will be represented at the NCAA Championships after Oliver Kiptoo received an invitation as an individual to compete.
 
In order to be eligible to participate in the championships, teams and individuals had to qualify in their respective NCAA regional competitions that were held two weekends ago.
 
Kiptoo placed 10th individually at the Central Region Championships Saturday, Nov. 19 with a time of 29:35.5 that earned him a spot in the 8k race. The Iten, Kenya native was the top Tiger and Great American Conference runner to finish.
 
Thirty-four teams were selected to participate in each championship. The top three, seven-person teams automatically qualified from each of the eight regions, for a total of 24 teams. Ten additional teams were selected at-large. A minimum of 24 additional individuals were selected to participate in each championship through an automatic qualifier and at-large selection process.
