The East Central University women’s soccer team tied Southwest Minnesota State University 2-2 yesterday in a nonconference matchup to open the 2022 season.
 
Two ECU players were able to score a goal in the match. In the first half, the Tigers opened the scoring after RSo. Tanja Bauboeck connected off an assist from So. Cambori Watson for the first goal of the season and give ECU a 1-0 lead. RJr. Kaylee Bruce continued the momentum in the second half as she netted the second goal to push the lead 2-0. The Tigers outshot the Mustangs 7-5 in the opening half.
 
SMSU cut the lead to 2-1 with a goal in the second half. Later in the game, a connection on a free kick allowed the Mustangs to tie the game 2-2 and force the final score.
