The first regular season softball rankings were released on Monday and Murray State as expected moved into the consensus number one spot in the NJCAA Division II poll after a perfect 16-0 start.

Coach Aaron Mullens’ squad captured every first place vote in the debut rankings as one of five undefeated teams in the Top 20 rankings.

“It’s great honor but just keeps that bullseye on our backs,” Mullens stated. “Everybody will come out gunning for us with their best so we can’t afford much of a letdown. We have to come out ready to play every day we step on the diamond.”

The Lady Aggies will be at home Tuesday for a 1 p.m. conference opening twinbill with Northern Oklahoma College-Enid before travelling to Branson, Missouri for a four-game set starting Friday at noon.
