Murray State College Alexander to Lead eSports Program

Murray State College’s eSports program will begin this academic year with a new coach, Bobby Alexander.

Alexander began his eSports coaching career four years ago at Davis High School in Davis, Oklahoma. Now he’s moving up to the college world.

Many things can be learned from participating in eSports, such as marketing, computer technology and speech. There are more career paths to gain than just being an eSports athlete.

“If I can bring eSports to a college community, give a high school senior a reason to go to college and help them find a career path, why not do this?” said Alexander. “I look forward to growing the program and brining more light to eSports in this region.”

Alexander has an extensive background in technology, from serving as a field support technician for Mercy Health Systems to a systems project manager for the State of Oklahoma. Most recently, he was the district technology director for Davis Public Schools.

“The Murray State eSports program continues to grow since its inception in 2019,” said Dr. Tim Faltyn, Murray State College President. “Bobby has a wealth of knowledge, skills and passion for this gaming industry that will benefit our students in multiple ways.”
