East Central Oklahoma University Men’s Basketball Adds 11 to 2022-2023 Roster

East Central University Men's Basketball adds 11 to the 2022-2023 roster.  Head Coach Daniel Wheeler and assistant Zack Price spent the past two months recruiting to fill their roster for the upcoming season. The Tigers return five from the 2021-2022 season. The returners are Romello Wilbert, Jakeem Acres, Julian Baldwin, Ellis Lee, Jr, and Jay Gilliland.

 

The Tigers begin the 22-23 signing class with Quinton Johnson II. Johnson, a 6'6" guard from Oklahoma City, averaged 18 points a game at Centennial High School and was ranked the 25th player in the state of Oklahoma. This past spring, he graduated from University of Texas Rio Grande Valley with a bachelors in multidisciplinary studies. As a Vaquero, he had a career average of 7.8 points and 3.9 rebounds.

 

The next addition to the Tiger roster is 6'7" forward, Godsgift "GG" Ezedinma. Originally from Enugu, Nigeria, GG moved to Texas and graduated from Midway High School located in Waco. As a senior in high school, GG was ranked 31 according to TexasTop100.com. Ezedinma continued his playing career at the University of Incarnate Word where he shot 40 percent from behind the arc. With three years of eligibility left, Ezedinma will pursue a degree in business.

 

Luke Harper comes to ECU from John Brown University, where he finished his career averaging 39% from the 3 point line. The 6'3" guard scored over one thousand points during his four years at John Brown averaging 13.5 points per game. During his Junior year, while averaging 19.2 points per game, Harper was selected First Team All-Conference in the SAC, and Third Team All American in the NAIA.

 

Leonard Dixon is the next addition to the Tiger roster. A 6'7" transfer from the University of Minnesota Crookston led his team in both scoring and rebounding last season averaging 12.5 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game. Dixon has one year of eligibility remaining and will graduate with a degree in

 

Keyon Thomas, originally from Kansas City, Kansas, graduated from Bonner Springs High School in 2019, where he is the all-time leading scorer and all-time assist leader. As a freshman, he attended Emporia State University. During his time at ESU, Thomas became the Hornets' all-time leading freshman scorer. The 5'10" guard then transferred to Butler Community College and averaged 10.8 points per game and shot 36.8% from 3 for the Grizzlies this past season.

 

Originally from Bartlesville Oklahoma, Barron Tanner Jr joins the Tiger roster as a transfer from Salem University. In 2017, he graduated from Bartlesville was ranked in the top 40 in Oklahoma by PrepHoops 2017. In his last season at Salem, the 6'6" forward averaged 9.1 points per game shooting 38 percent from behind the arc.

 

The Tigers add Freshman Mason Jones from Keller Central High School. The 6'5" shooting guard from Fort Worth, Texas averaged 18 points and 6 rebounds per game as a senior in high school. He made over 75 3-pointers during his final season. In addition, Jones was selected to the District 4-6A First Team TABC All-Region.

 

Lastly, Coach Daniel Wheeler adds to his roster three more incomers. Bryce Woolridge junior transfer from Webster University, Brayden Dutton from Yukon High School, and DD Coleman from Ardmore High School. All three of these incomers will add skill and athleticism to the rosters.
