Murray State College Lady Aggies fall to Collin County rally

The Murray State Lady Aggies put the defensive clamps on 15th ranked Collin County for three quarters Thursday night but couldn't withstand a late charge in a 52-48 non-conference road defeat.

Now 6-5 on the season, the Lady Aggies will be back on the road for another non-league battle Saturday for a 2 p.m. contest at Paris Junior College.

Murray State limited the explosive Lady Cougars to just 30 points through three periods but weren't able to distance themselves much in leading just 36-30 going to the final frame. The hosts then erupted for 22 points in the final 10 minutes alone while claiming the edge for good as the Lady Aggies struggled from the field down the stretch, hitting just 4 of 11 shots in the fourth while Collin canned 6 of 11 as well as 7 of 10 at the charity stripe.

Mattie Busby spurred the Lady Aggies with 14 points, canning a pair of three-pointers, while Jade Millan also reached double digits with 11. Lanie Gooch and Reese Webb pumped in six points apiece, Payton James and Bella Peterson each chipped in five and Briana Knabe added one point.
