Returning to action for the first time in the second semester, the Murray State Lady Aggies took control from the start and steadily pulled away for a 68-45 win over National Park College in non-conference action Friday.
The Lady Aggies improved to 9-6 overall and face a pivotal matchup at home Monday at 5:30 when they host Eastern Junior College in a return to league play.
Against National Park, Murray built a 16-6 first quarter lead behind the one-two punch of Jade Millan and Reese Webb before extending that margin to 33-16 at intermission and 48-26 through three periods.
Despite shooting just 34 percent overall from the field for the game, the Lady Aggies had nice balance with all 11 players that suited up getting in on the scoring.
Payton James led that charge with 12 points, sinking a pair of three-pointers along the way. Webb added nine points and team-high 10 rebounds to just miss a double-double.
Remi Langmaid also finished with nine, Millan and Teniola Okunrinkoya each tallied eight, Paige Taylor chipped in six, Briana Knabe, Bella Peterson and Cristina Laudan all posted four points, Mattie Busby had three as well as a team-leading four steals while Lanie Gooch ended with one.
