Southeastern Oklahoma State University Clouet Powers SE to Dominating Win over UAM

Cody Clouet turned in a career-high 31 points to lead a foursome of double-digit scorers for Southeastern in an 89-60 rout of Arkansas-Monticello on Saturday afternoon in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.
 
The win lifts the Savage Storm to 15-7 overall and 12-5 in Great American Conference play heading into a Monday night showdown with rival East Central at 7:30 p.m. back in Bloomer Sullivan Ar3ena.
 
Clouet was a  sharpshooter on the night, hitting his first nine shots taken and finishing the contest shooting 11-of-12 overall and 7-of-8 from beyond the arc en route to 31 points to lead all scorers.
 
Jett Sternberger was next in line with 15 on 6-of-11 shooting, while Brennen Burns hit 5-of-7 to finish with 12.
 
RJ Weeks connected on both threes he took and posted a 10-point outing, while Kyle Leslie finished with eight points.
 
Burns dished out a game-best seven assists and Sternberger added six as the Storm piled up 25 assists on 33 make buckets.
 
SE also collected nine steals on defense, led by three from Weeks.
 
Sternberger turned out to be the leading rebounder for Southeastern as he finished with nine, with Clouet and Leslie each turning in five.
 
The Storm took control early, scoring the game's first 14 points and never looking back.
 
UAM would immediately respond with five-straight points of its own, but a Burns layup at the 15:56 mark would push the lead back to double-figures and it would never hit single digits again.
 
The Storm lead in the first half would peak at 18 points before Boll Weevil rally would close the gap to 31-21 with 4:37 to play in the half.
 
SE would respond with a Leslie three and two possessions later the Storm would rip off eight points before the ball would cross the halfcourt stripe again.
 
Clouet would drain a three, with Weeks immediately stealing the4 inbounds pass, dishing to Clouet who would lay it in. The Storm press would pay off as UAM would commit an offensive foul in the back court and Leslie would make them pay with a three to extend the lead to 42-23 with 2:23 to play in the first half.
 
SE would ultimately push that lead to 47-26 at the break.
 
After a brief exchange to open the second half, the Storm would use a 7-0 run to push the lead to 26 points and it would never be less than 20 for the remainder of the game.
 
Southeastern's lead would peak at 34 points on a Clouet bucket with 5:43 to play which made the score 83-49 before going on to earn the 89-60 victory.
