Freshman Gage Gilchrist belted a double and triple and drove in four runs to spur 10th ranked Murray State to a 10-2 baseball triumph over Kellogg Community College on Wednesday afternoon in Shreveport, Louisiana.

The contest was originally slated for a doubleheader but changed to a single nine-inning affair after early afternoon rains. The Aggies are now 12-2 and scheduled to travel to North Central Texas College Saturday for a 1 p.m. twinbill for their next outing.

Gilchrist was only a home run away from the cycle as Murray State piled up 11 hits against the Bruins.

Tied 1-1 in the third, the Aggies broke things open with a four-run uprising and never looked back while cruising to their seventh straight victory. Jaxon Gless and Brady Benedict each singled before riding home on Gilchrist's double to right to claim the lead for good. Ashton Inman and Patrick McCullough also pitched in a RBI apiece with sacrifice flies.

Murray State tacked on two more tallies in the fifth thanks to run-scoring hits from McCullough and Wilbert Espinal. Benedict doubled home another run in the seventh with Gilchrist wrapping up the scoring by knocking in two more with a single.

Garrett Gruell returned from injury and posted two hits along with Benedict. McCullough had one hit and totaled two RBI, Clay Jung and Espinal contributed a hit and run batted in each.

Colby Langford fired four innings, allowing just one run on three hits and struck out six to pick up the mound decision in the staff outing. Haeven Cichocki and Tyler Zylstra also accounted for scoreless relief appearances.
