The East Central University baseball team traveled to Arkansas for a three game series with Henderson State University, defeating the Reddies 4-1 in the opener before falling 19-0 to split the doubleheader Saturday evening.

ECU kicked off the scoring in game one after a two-out single from Nick Blankenship drove in Nolan Herchock in the top of the second for the 1-0 lead.

Henderson would answer back in the home half of the third, though, to tie the game 1-1.

After surrendering one run in the third inning, ECU starting pitcher Bryan Terry settled in to keep Henderson scoreless, giving the Tiger offense an opportunity to take control of the game.

In the seventh, Christian Whitaker led off with a walk before a two-run homer from Dawerlyn Amancio allowed ECU to jump ahead 3-0.

The Tigers added an insurance run in the eighth after Mason Glowacki and Cooper Hunt led off with a single, advanced to second and third from a Reddies throwing error, then Glowacki came home after Tanner Collins hit up the middle for the 4-1 series-opening win.

Bryan Terry picked up the win pitching a complete game, giving up one run on five hits while striking out seven.

Tanner Collins had a pair of hits, while Cooper Hunt, Dawerlyn Amancio, Nolan Herchock, Nick Blankenship, and Mason Glowacki each had one.

In game two, ECU could not get their bats going while the Henderson offense came alive.

The Reddies would score first this time with a run in the second before a nine-run third inning put the Tigers in a 10-0 hole.

Henderson would tab on eight runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to settle the final score 19-0.

Carson Thomas took the loss, pitching 2.1 innings and giving up six runs on seven hits. Other Tigers to see action on the mound include Bryce Crawford, Drake Sisemore, and Jagger Green.

Nolan Herchock picked up the only hit.
