It was a tough outing for Murray State soccer teams on Wednesday, dropping a pair of league contests on the road at Rose State College in Midwest City.
The Lady Aggies came out on the short end of a 3-1 verdict at the hands of the nationally 15th ranked hosts before the Aggie men fell 2-1 in a tight defensive battle.
Both Murray State squads will return home Sunday to face Arkansas Rich Mountain.
In the women's contest at Rose State, the Lady Aggies battled tough, keeping the game close in a rugged contest but could only manage a single goal from Myah Evans.
"The early part of our schedule was very difficult with three nationally ranked teams, so we are happy with the way the team is progressing," said head coach Gary Akin. "We generated several scoring opportunities but need to do a little better job finishing the ball when we get into those positions."
The Aggies missed several scoring chances in the men's contest, picking up a single goal when Frank Perez punched one through the keeper into the net off a Cesar Solis assist.
Solis, the Murray State offensive stalwart, however received a red card in the game's 80th minute thus helping thwart an Aggie comeback.
"It was a difficult game with many missed chance, so we just have to move on from this and be better on Sunday," head coach John Connor commented.
