Congressman Tom Cole has expressed his support for a legislative proposal to name a new Veterans Affairs hospital in Tulsa after the late Senator Jim Inhofe. The facility, which will cover 275,000 square feet and include 58 beds, is proposed to be named the James Mountain Inhofe VA Medical Center.
Cole highlighted Senator Inhofe's long-standing service to both the nation and Oklahoma. "Senator Jim Inhofe was a true patriot," Cole stated. He emphasized Inhofe's roles in the United States Army, Oklahoma state legislature, United States House of Representatives, United States Senate, and as Mayor of Tulsa. Cole remarked on Inhofe's dedication to military and veterans' issues as well as conservative values.
Reflecting on their personal relationship, Cole said, "His passing was a devastating loss, as he served as my friend, leader, and mentor for fifty years." He further noted his pride in supporting the legislation that would honor Inhofe by naming the medical center after him.
Cole concluded by affirming that "there is no one who deserves to have a VA medical center named after him more than Senator Jim Inhofe."
