Tuesday evening, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (6-1-1, 1-0 SAC) opened conference-play with a thrilling 2-1 victory against Southwestern Assemblies of God University (2-6, 0-1 SAC).
Despite dominating the possession of the ball, the Drovers need a last-minute goal to emerge triumphant in the first game of the year against a Sooner Athletic Conference opponent.
After a scoreless first half, Emma Rice (SR/Norman, OK) gave the Drovers the lead in the 52nd minute, off an assist from Alicia Rey (SO/Valladolid, Spain).
The Lions pulled the score even in the 81st minute, but the Rice helped USAO reclaim the lead in the 89thminute, with her ninth goal of the season.
In her incredible career, Emma Rice has tallied 120 goals, 44 assists, and 284 points in 91 games. The striker ranks 11th in NAIA history in goals scored.
Caitlin Bishop (SO/Trophy Club, TX) made one save as she improved her record to 5-1-1 this season.
As a team, the Drovers attempted 25 shots, with 11 being on goal, while the Lions attempted only three shots, two of which were on target.
