Murray State College Aggies notch soccer sweep at Crowder

Both the Murray State women's and men's soccer teams notched their fifth win of the season in non-conference action on the road at Crowder College on Wednesday.

The Lady Aggies worked a 2-0 shutout while the Aggies notched a 2-1 victory as well for the sweep. Each squad will be back for the home finale on Wednesday against visiting Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.

In the women's contest, Murray State once again controlled possession most of the contest and made that pay off in punching in a pair of goals for the victory. Both Lady Aggies goals came in the first half and they were able to notch a shutout throughout the final 45 minutes to maintain the lead with goalkeeper Mia King recording five saves on the only Roughrider shots on goal while the Murray offense peppered Crowder with 20 shots on goal for the game.

Kaylee Foster knocked through the first score off an Aimee Stelle assist with the second Lady Aggie goal coming from Hanna Brew from a feed by Myah Evans.

"We really controlled the pace the majority of the game," head coach Gary Akin said. "Crowder has some very fast, attacking players and our defense with a great job limiting their chances. Mia King did a great job keeping a clean sheet."

In the men's 2-1 victory, the Aggies had to come from behind for the victory, getting a pair of goals from Brazil native Lucas Peruzo with roughly five minutes left in regulation and then the eventual game winner with three minutes to play.

Cesar Solis assisted on the first Peruzo score and then Carl Murch added the second assist.
