The Great American Conference announced the first Men's and Women's Basketball Players of the Week for the 2022-23 season. East Central University player Keyon Thomas has won the Men's award in his first year with the Tigers.
Thomas helped the Tigers to two wins in their opening weekend at the Weekend Classic in Warrensburg, MO against Upper Iowa University and the University of Central Missouri.
He scored 28 points while adding six rebounds, seven assists, and two steals in an 85-70 victory against the Peacocks. Thomas followed with 18 points on 8-for-12 shooting in a 77-69 win against the Mules.
For the week, he shot a .667 (14-of-21) field-goal percentage, a .667 (4-of-6) three-point field-goal percentage, and a .824 (14-of-17) free throw percentage.
