The East Central University men's basketball team saw three players named to the 2022-23 All-GAC Honorable Mention Team while two claimed GAC Distinguished Scholar Accolades, announced by the league Wednesday.

  • Keyon Thomas – Honorable Mention

Thomas, Harper, and Johnson were all named to the All-GAC Honorable Mention Team in their first season with the Tigers after helping the team clinch the No. 4 seed to the postseason tournament.

While averaging over 30 minutes per contest, Thomas currently leads the Tigers in scoring with 13.1 points per game. He also leads the team in field goal percentage with 50 percent and free throw percentage with 83.8 percent from the charity stripe.

Harper played in and started in all 28 of the Tigers' regular season games this year. The graduate student from Plano, Texas leads the team in assists with 111 total and 4.0 per game which ranks him No. 3 in the league. He also is second on the team in points per game with 10.1 and field goal percentage with 47.3 percent.

Johnson fought all the way back from an injury at the beginning of the season to help lead the Tigers to a 18-10 overall regular season record. From the 18 games he has played, he is currently second on the team for averages in minutes, scoring, and rebounding with 28.8, 12.5, and 4.7, respectively.

Wilbert and Woolridge also represented ECU as Distinguished Scholar-Athletes. This honor is given to student-athletes who have completed at least 72 credit hours and have a 3.7 GPA or higher. This is Wilberts second Distinguished Scholar accolade while Woolridge received his first.
