Today, Congressman Tom Cole from Oklahoma's 4th District expressed his support for the Laken Riley Act, known formally as H.R. 29. This legislative measure was approved in the House of Representatives.
Cole stated, "Throughout the past four years, we have watched traffickers, dangerous criminals, and cartels take advantage of the Biden Administration’s open border policies. As a result, innocent Americans, like student Laken Riley, have been violently murdered by illegal immigrants who entered our nation unvetted. This cannot go on."
The act mandates that the Department of Homeland Security detain illegal immigrants involved in specific criminal activities. Congressman Cole believes this policy could have potentially prevented the death of Laken Riley.
"I am so glad to see this bill pass the House today," Cole remarked. "It is past time that we end this ongoing border catastrophe once and for all."
