Today, Congressman Tom Cole of Oklahoma's 4th District announced the successful passage of his legislation, the Full-Year Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act of 2025. This act aims to maintain government operations and support essential services for Americans. The bill has passed the House of Representatives.
Congressman Cole stated, "The choice before us was simple: you either support keeping the government open and working for the American people - or you want a reckless government shutdown." He emphasized that House Republicans have met the nation's fiscal deadline with this vote, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining operations for critical services such as military, veterans' benefits, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, child nutrition programs, and public safety.
Cole highlighted that the legislation includes "the largest pay raise for our brave junior enlisted heroes since President Reagan." He described the bill as a "straightforward extension of funding and certainty for the nation," free from unrelated amendments or conditions.
The congressman criticized Democrats for not participating in discussions about the bill. "We asked for Democrats to join us at the table. Instead, they sat at the joint address, sat on the sidelines, and sat in their general contempt for President Trump," he remarked. Cole urged swift action from the Senate to ensure continued governance.
