Last night, the Republican Conference of the House of Representatives elected its leadership for the 119th Congress. Following these elections, Congressman Tom Cole from Oklahoma's 4th District issued several congratulatory statements.

Speaker Mike Johnson, representing Louisiana's 4th District, was re-elected as Speaker of the House. Congressman Cole expressed his confidence in Johnson's continued leadership: “Throughout Speaker Johnson’s last tenure as Speaker, he consistently pushed conservative policies that benefitted the American people. Now, with President Trump in the White House and a Republican majority in the Senate to work with, I am confident that Speaker Johnson will be even more effective, and I look forward to seeing him continue to successfully lead this body.”

Steve Scalise from Louisiana's 1st District was also re-elected as House Majority Leader. Congressman Cole praised Scalise's leadership within the Republican Conference: “Congratulations to Leader Scalise on his re-election as House Majority Leader,” said Congressman Cole. “Steve has been an instrumental leader in the Republican Conference for many years now, and I am excited to continuing to work with him this upcoming Congress.”

Tom Emmer from Minnesota's 6th District retained his position as Whip of the House of Representatives. Congressman Cole remarked on Emmer’s capabilities: “I want to congratulate Tom Emmer on being re-elected as the Whip for the Republican Conference. I know that Tom will continue to do a great job for this Conference, as he has demonstrated in the past that he is very capable.”

Lisa McClain from Michigan's 9th District was elected Chairwoman of the House Republican Conference, succeeding Elise Stefanik from New York's 21st District. Congressman Cole extended his congratulations: “Congratulations to my good friend and colleague, Lisa McClain, on being elected as Conference Chair. I am confident that Lisa will help to unite our Conference and help us with carrying out President Trump’s conservative agenda. Although we will greatly miss Elise, there is no better person than Lisa to take over this post.”

Additionally, Richard Hudson from North Carolina's 9th District was re-elected as Chair of the NRCC; Kevin Hern from Oklahoma's 1st District was elected Policy Chair; and Erin Houchin from Indiana's 9th District was elected Conference Secretary. Congressman Cole stated: “Congratulations to Reps. Hudson, Hern, and Houchin on their positions,” said Congressman Cole. “I look forward to working with each and every one of them to better our nation for the American people.”
